Frequently
Asked Questions
What is the difference between UVB and UVA tanning rays?
UVA, more commonly referred to as the “bronzing” ray,
is a longer wave and penetrates further into the skin than UVB.
UVB, or the “burning” ray, is a tighter, more intense
wave that releases its energy closer to the skin’s surface.
Because of this, UVB is more likely to cause sunburn than UVA. Today’s
tanning units use a carefully controlled mixture of both UVA and
UVB to help prevent tanners from burning as quickly or easily from
the natural sun.
